Well, the rules regarding the lockdown are here and… well, they are not very strict. I could still go out for a run or a walk, plus you can go to do important stuff (shop, pharmacy, doctor, work, etc.) and some baffling ones, like going to get your nails done, which apparently is a key human right according to the government. Hungarians, if you need a guide on what the rules allow, HVG has a good summary HERE.
But, I thought it was time to experiment a bit, and having seen all the videos and insta stories of athletes around the world doing laps in their gardens (or even their living rooms), I decided to give myself the challenge to do this 13 km run in the garden here. I feel like it would be pretentious to say I’m doing it out of solidarity with them, because I have so much space available here. So, while it is repetitive, because of the space it is not as constraining as it sounds. The real challenge is the elevation gain: the property is on a slope, so with each lap, you run uphill a lot. In fact, in 13 km there was almost 500 m of elevation gain according to my watch, which is equivalent to climbing like 130 floors. Not a bad leg day…
I finally put up the hammock, so we enjoyed the sunshine a bit, drinking coffee, catching up on Eamon & Bec videos and goofing around.
I also spent more time than usual in front of the computer editing photos. Yesterday evening I set up my camera to shoot star photos in the garden and I put those 100+ photos together to create one image showing the movement of the stars. Looks pretty cool at first glance, right? But when you look closely you can see a little mistake: the start trails are not proper trails, but a series of dots. I must have messed up something with the settings, because instead of continuous 30 second exposures, it took a 30 second exposure every minute, leaving these little gaps. What can I say, it’s been a while since I’ve experimented with star photos. Maybe I’ll try again some other night.
